Many project management books profess to tell readers what to do to achieve project success. Things Your PMO Is Doing Wrong by Michael Hatfield takes the opposite approach. It tells readers what to avoid.rnThe book comprises three parts. Each part is composed of several brief chapters that address a specific point. Part 1, "Tactics That Don't Work," describes seven practices that are commonly encountered in project work. They seem sensible and enjoy broad support-but in the end, they just don't work.rnHatfield's presentation is blunt, bold, and entirely refreshing-no sacred cows here and no bowing to time-honored traditions. His take on training and certifications reveals a great but often overlooked truth: neither offers intrinsic value.
