NIOSH Calls for Work-Related Asthma Research

New research is needed to study the irritants and sensitizers that cause work-related asthma, the degree to which they can be controlled and the exposures in the workplace, according to NIOSH. As noted in a recent entry on the agency's science blog, "the cause of work-related asthma, which accounts for 15% to 23% of new asthma cases in adults, is most likely not a single chemical exposure but rather a mixed exposure of chemical classes."
