ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

I always read Lord Eatwell's Economy column with interest. The last two have left me thinking of issues I'd like to read his views on. Lord Eatwell proposes increasing demand by channelling money to the poor. While this is completely correct on equity grounds, it opens a lot of environmental questions.rn'Contraction and convergence' is sometimes suggested as the answer to increasing equity and sustainability at the same time. The aim is a steady state economy in step with the Earth's capacity to produce materials and absorb wastes.
