If merger talks between British Aerospace (BAe) and Daimler-BenzAerospace (Dasa) come to fruition, it would represent a huge step forward in European plans to create a single defence company capable of challenging the might of the US giants, led by Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. The Anglo-German behemoth would have annual international sales of around $20 billion.
