The March 10 congressional hearing on CPSC's budget by the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government provided another platform for agency critics to voice concerns repeated often during the past year, many times with anger and sarcasm.Chief among those worries has been whether the agency has the resources and staff to fulfill its mission, and both President George W.Bush and Acting Chairman Nancy Nord have been the subjects of allegations that they are seeking to underfund the agency or at least are not committed to sufficiently funding it -positions that Nord has emphatically rejected.
