摘要

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most common autoimmune diseases. In the past decade, the introduction of biological therapies that neutralize inflammatory cytokines such ; as TNF-α and IL-6 has been a major breakthrough, and has been successful in controlling disease activity and preventing or limiting joint destruction in the majority of patients. The primary disease-causing mechanisms have remained undetermined, and disease management therefore requires continuous therapy with these biological agents. Current clinical research is focused on identifying additional targets to block inflammation.
