By implementing and supporting stringent and well-defined library standards, design organizations will experience fewer mistakes and shorter design cycles. These parts can then be used in future designs with the assurance that they are correct, without further checking. This also eliminates the impact of any library change that will affect design, manufacturing, assembly and test. What seems trivial and work-intensive in the beginning of a design cycle will pay off with quicker time-to-market and higher confidence in the quality of the parts being used within the organization. Just remember that a little extra work at the beginning of the design cycle can eliminate a lot of headache when that first board comes back from the fab shop.
