PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a management efficiency and retrieval performance of a library storing recording media, to reduce it cost and to improve the recycle rate and the resource management efficiency of the recording media. SOLUTION: The library management system is provided with the library 10 that stores tapes 1101 -110x recording contents, a print section 70 that respectively identifies a plurality of storage locations of the library 10 and prints out location bar codes 1601 -160m sticked to the storage locations and a tape bar code 80s or the like sticked to a tape 110s , a source information input/ collation processing section that registers information of the storage location identifiers and information of the tape identifiers to a contents tape information database, and a handy type bar code reader 60 that reads the storage location identifier and the tape identifier when the library receives the tape 110s . The source information input/collation processing section conducts inventory management on the basis of the read result of the handy type bar code reader 60 and the information registered in the contents tape information database.
