The latest incarnation of the NTI 100 is notable for its Asian flavor. The top five makers in 2003 were Japanese, with combined revenue of $4.57 billion, equal to 13.3% of the total world output of $34.5 billion. The top 10 were all from Asia, with a combined output of $7.06 billion (20.5%). Nippon Mektron (No. 1), Unimicron (6) and Samsung Electro-Mechanics (7) are growing at the rate of 20% this year. At that pace, the top ten's share may exceed 22% in 2004. In 2000 Sanmina-SCI reported revenue of over $1.5 billion and Viasystems Group's was $1.25 billion. In the past few years, however, the top spots have changed dramatically in favor of Asian firms.
