While FabStream, the integrated printed circuit board design and manufacturing tool launched in late April, is targeted at the DIY electronics market, the potential is there for a much bigger audience. In announcing Fabstream's release, DownStream Technologies said it built the software for small businesses, engineers, inventors, hobbyists and other electronics enthusiasts. Design software also marks a departure from the company's traditional lines of CAM and documentation tools. "Our vision for FabStream was to create an intuitive PCB solution for a complex part of the electronic product development process. FabStream offers the casual DIY user free comprehensive, yet easy-to-use PCB design tools readily available and integrated with manufacturing," said Rick Almeida, founder of DownStream and managing director of FabStream.
