At a gala banquet at POWER-GEN International in Orlando, FL, on December 14, Power Engineering magazine's editors recognized the 2010 Projects of the Year Award finalists and announced four winners. The best coal-fired project was awarded to Great River Energy's DryFining process. Honorable mentions were given to WH Sammis Plant's air quality control project and the Oak Grove power plant project. The best gas-fired project was Tohoku-Electric Power Co's Sendai thermal power station replacement projects. Honorable mentions were given to Syracuse University Green Data Center and the Langage Power Station project in Langage, UK. The best nuclear project was the new-generation tungsten shield project at Arkansas Nuclear One. Honorable mention was given to the Gimbaled head project at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant. The best renewable/sustainable project was the Tekeze Hydropower project in Ethiopia. Honorable mentions were given to the Canoe Creek Hydroelectric Project and the Magic Hat Brewery biogas facility.
