A detailed subsurface investigation determined the soil and bedrock profile along the bulkhead. Rock cores were obtained in the shale bedrock to determine the depth and quality of competent bedrock.rnThe competent bedrock depth was confirmed in the field based on driving resistance of the steel sheet piling. The use of high strength Marine Grade Steel provides a substantial improvement to corrosion resistance.rnInnovative concepts were incorporated into the design & construction to minimise costs and provide stable support for the steel sheet pile bulkhead.
