A new dynamometer takes Kalmar terminal tractors'testing to a new level

Cargotec has begun testing Kalmar terminal tractors by using a custom-built dynamometer at its Tampere facility in Finland. When tested, a terminal tractor is driven to the test room, which has a dynamometer and loading systems. The terminal tractor will be parked on the dynamometer's rollers, which can be adjusted according to the wheel base. The loading system places a weight of up to 50 t on the fifth wheel of the terminal tractor, and the lift boom's active tilting can be tested by a maximum 10°. The system can thereby simulate various working conditions.
