Lang announces profit boom but prepares for downturn

Australia's Lang Corporation, owner of stevedore Patrick, has announced a 44% increase in half-year net profits. Lang reported an interim net profit of A$35.41 m (US$ 18m), and a profit before interest and tax of $51.8m. The strong performance was enhanced by acquisitions of companies in the port services, shipping and freight forwarding sectors.
