Last year's Engine Masters Challenge opened up the competition with several "firsts" as far as what is allowed in a competitive entry. Electronic fuel injection and modern engine types were given the green light, and we had several entries in each category make the show. We had some strong performances in the fuel injection ranks last year, but none of the EFI engines had enough juice to make the final field in the rookie year. Several builders also took advantage of the newly legal late-model engine types, with the GM LS-series engines proving to be the most popular.
