Ag~+ containing nanofibers were successfully electrospun from the solution of polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/dimethylacetamide/tetraaniline (TeAN). After thermal treatment at 500 °C, most of the Ag~+ was reduced to atomic silver by TeAN which was then head-to-head coupled to become octaaniline (OcAN) and the electrospun nanofibers on the glass slide were successfully converted to highly transparent, conducting silver nanofibers (AgNF) networks. The formation of OcAN from coupling TeANs (reducing of Ag~+) can also occur in the solution of AgNO_3/HNO_3 with several hour standing at RT. The colorization or darkening effect of PAN at high temperatures (over 300 °C) were successfully hindered by the occurrence of Ag~+/TeAN redox reaction. And the obtained AgNFs electrospun on the glass slide turned out to be a conducting network with 70% transparency and with surface resistivity below several ohms after thermal treatment at 500 °C.
