THE ERASMUS MUNDUS PROGRAMME - A NON-TYPICAL EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY FOR ANALYSTS

The Erasmus Mundus programme meets the needs of higher education in Europe in that it raises the standard, attractiveness and innova-tiveness of education; it also responds to the desires of citizens of the world to become better acquainted with cultures other than their own. The first phase of the programme was completed in 2004-08, and the second is to be implemented in 2009-13. The objectives of Erasmus Mundus are: 1.to supply funding for the organisation of joint courses of study run by consortia of universities; 2.to provide student grants as a form of assistance with the implementation of partner projects encouraging mobility between universities from European Union countries and universities from 'third-countries'; 3.to supply funding for projects aiming at improving the attractiveness and quality of European higher education in the form of in-service training for scientists from third-countries.
