US Supreme Court to hear challenge of Virginia uranium mining ban

The US Supreme Court has agreed to consider an appeal of a lower court decision that denied a challenge to Virginia’s moratorium on uranium mining. The court announced May 21 that it will hear an appeal of a February 17, 2017, decision by the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, Virginia, that upheld a December 2015 decision by a division of the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia that said the state's 1982 moratorium on uranium mining is legal.
