Investors buying, holding U3O8 are changing spot market: officials

Uranium purchases by non-traditional participants funded by investors have changed the spot market, perhaps permanently, officials said at the Nuclear Energy Institute’s International Uranium Fuel Seminar Nov. 9. They were referring to the 40 million lb U3O8 purchased in the spot market in 2021 by what Ux President Jonathan Hinze described in his presentation as investment funds, hedge funds and investor-backed junior miners.
