Tepco to delay plans to remove spent fuel at Fukushima I-3

Tokyo Electric Power Co. will delay its plans to remove spent fuel stored in the pool at Fukushima I-3 from late March to April or later due to a problem with the machine used for the work, Tepco said in a statement March 7. The utility added that one of six motors used to power the fuel handling machine for the removal work, and the motor’s power supply, were found to be defective. It is investigating the issue.
