APS aims to add 290 MW of gas-fired generation

Arizona Public Service plans to expand its natural gas-firednresources by 290 MW with new generation units at its Ocotillonpower plant in Tempe, Arizona.nBesides improving grid reliability in the Phoenix area, thenadditional generation would help replace expiring power purchasenagreements. APS has PPAs totaling about 2,329 MW, with fourndeals totaling 1,250 MW that expire between 2015 and 2017. Thenutility has not disclosed the PPA counterparties.
