Rising prices boost January FTR market value

Market value for prompt-month financial transmission rights (FTR)rnobligations for January 2017 came in higher compared with bothrnmonth- and year-ago levels.Total value of FTR obligation contracts that cleared in the Januaryrnauctions was $89.1 million, up $8.9 million from the previous month, orrn11%, and $4.7 million, or 6%, from January 2016. The increase in marketrnvalue comes as overall contract volumes contracted 7% fromrnDecember 2016 and 13% from year-ago levels. In total, the clearedrncontracts amount to a market volume of 145,369 GWh for January.
