Illinois legislature approves energy bill, including Exelon nuclear subsidies

The Illinois Senate voted the afternoon of Sept. 13 to approve a cleanenergy bill that includes economic subsidies for three ExelonGeneration nuclear power plants in the state.The company had said it would permanently shut Byron andDresden this fall for economic reasons unless the subsidies areprovided.SB 2408 received 37 votes in favor, one more than it needed to pass.
