Commoditized carbon product prices rise in August on futures markets: sources

Commoditized carbon products created by exchanges to reflect CORSIA-eligible credits and nature-based credits saw a rapid price growth in the first half of August, with market sources citing positiontaking on futures contracts as the main reasons behind the bullish trend. CORSIA, the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation, was set up by the aviation sector to offset its greenhouse gas emissions. Airline operators taking part in CORSIA have pledged to offset all the CO2 emissions they will produce above a baseline 2019 level.
