PJM seeks to ease tight deadlines for initial review of new interconnection requests

PJM Interconnection has proposed new deadlines for completing its scan for deficiencies in new service requests to lessen and potentially eliminate the need to seek tariff waivers as the gird operator processes record numbers of new interconnection requests. Between Jan. 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021, some 1,660 new service requests were submitted to PJM. The most recently completed new services queue window, AG2, which closed March 31, saw a 23% increase in the total number of new services requests from the prior queue and a 55% jump over the queue before that.
