The state of Virginia drew the most attention from three chief executive officers and a sustainability chief from a leading tech company when asked which eastern US state with a net-zero emission target would provide the most business opportunities. Virginia's Clean Energy Act set a 2045 net-zero carbon emission goal and went into effect July 1, although New York's goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 and its economy-wide 2050 goal of netzero carbon emissions, won kudos too. The members of the panel on the July 30 Advanced Energy Economy webcast on "Getting to 100% Clean Energy," were asked which of eight states in the eastern US would actually meet their goals and how long it will take.
