In the Southwest, on-peak day-ahead pricing strengthened in morning trading as California Independent System Operator forecast strong demand early next week amid surging temperatures. Notable Southwest pricing point Palo Verde on-peak day-ahead rose about $11.50 on the day to price in the mid-$30s/MWh on the Intercontinental Exchange for Monday delivery. The Palo Verde off-peak dayahead package fell $1.75 to the low $20s/MWh for Sunday-Monday delivery. Similarly, the Mead on-peak package gained $10 to price near $33.25/MWh, while the off-peak fell $2.25 to trade near $20/MWh. SP15 traded about $15.25 higher than its previous settlement on ICE at near $46.25/MWh.
