Duke Energy sets 2050 net-zero emissions target, 50% emissions cut by 2030

Duke Energy aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across itsoperations in six states by 2050, as part of a goal the companyannounced Tuesday to reduce its emissions by 50% compared with a2005 baseline level by 2030.The company's goal builds on a target set in 2017, when DukeEnergy said it would cut its emissions by 40% compared with 2005levels by 2030. The utility has cut about its emissions by 31%compared with the baseline level so far, according to Diane Denton,Duke Energy's vice president of state energy policy in North Carolina.
