NextEra builds renewables backlog, expects boost from ITC

NextEra Energy Resources told analysts Wednesday that it added 1,620 MW of wind, solar, battery storage and repowering projects to its backlog in the second quarter and said that the recent extension of the investment tax credit, or ITC, has given a boost to the development of renewable projects out past 2019. The additions in the second quarter brought NextEra Energy Resources’ backlog of future wind, solar and storage projects to approximately 7,400 MW, what the Juno, Florida-based unregulated company said was its “largest” backlog in its history.
