NextEra Energy Resources renewables backlog exceeds existing portfolio

NextEra Energy Resources' backlog of renewables projects, at more than 15 GW, now exceeds its existing renewables portfolio, which took the company more than 20 years to complete, company officials said in an Oct. 21 NextEra Energy third-quarter earnings call. Net of projects that had been removed from the backlog, mostly because of an unfavorable ruling from the Alabama Public Service Commission regarding certain solar-plus-storage projects, NextEra Energy's main independent renewables subsidiary added about 1,450 MW of capacity to its backlog, which totals 15,188 MW for the periods of 2020 and beyond.
