Megawatt Daily regrets to inform its readers that Bob Matyi, a longtimecorrespondent for S&P Global Platts, passed away last week after abrief illness.Matyi, who was born in Benton, Illinois, and graduated fromSouthern Illinois University in 1972 with a journalism degree, beganwriting metals, coal and electricity stories for the then-McGraw HillCompanies in the 1980s.Matyi’s father and grandfather were both coal miners.A private service is being held this week in Henderson, Kentucky,and he will be buried at a cemetery in Prince Edward Island, where heowned a cottage, and enjoyed spending the summer months.
