Nuclear fuel cycle industry at ‘important juncture,’ officials say

The US nuclear fuel cycle industry is at an “important juncture” where it faces slow-growth markets but also potential new opportunities with advances in technologies, according to officials at NRC’s Regulatory Information Conference March 13 in Bethesda, Maryland. Part of the problem is that nuclear power is on the decline in the US and Europe, where power reactors are shutting or slated to be phased out, according to Eileen Supko, a principal in the Washington consulting firm Energy Resources International.
