NRC should streamline its environmental review processes under theNational Environmental Protection Act to be ready to license advancedreactors, the Nuclear Energy Institute said in a March 5 report.“Agency implementation of the NEPA has become unjustifiablycomplex and time-intensive, with reviews frequently spanning severalyears or more and requiring massive resource expenditures,” the USnuclear trade association said in the white paper, which offered sixrecommendations for how NRC could conduct its NEPA reviews moreefficiently.
