Indians seen winning trust-fund suit, but Interior certain to appeal: judge

Thousands of American Indians who allege that the Interior Department cheated them out of billions of dollars in oil, natural gas and other mineral royalties will be awarded a "dollar figure" when their long-running lawsuit finally comes to a close, the federal judge overseeing the case said last week. But Judge James Robertson of the US District Court in Washington said he expects that Interior will appeal the award, and that the Indians may never see a penny of the money they are seeking.
