A recovering global economy from nearly two years of the pandemic appears to be on a "relatively solid footing" that underpins a bright view of oil markets going forward, the top executive at big oil services provider Baker Hughes said Oct. 20. But the pace of growth is being "hampered" by the persistent effects of the delta variant, as well as global chip shortages, supply chain issues and energy supply constraints in some areas, CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said during a third-quarter call. "I believe the oilfield services market is in the early stages of a broad-based multiyear recovery," Simonelli said, essentially echoing remarks made a day earlier by oil services rival Halliburton's CEO Jeff Miller.
