WEC Energy aims to cut carbon emissions 60% by 2025, 80% by 2030

Wisconsin-headquartered utility owner WEC Energy Group plans to slash carbon emissions at its operations by 60% below 2005 levels by 2025 and 80% by the end of the decade. The company, which operates electric and natural gas utilities in four Midwestern states, will boost spending on renewables and advanced technology over the next five years to meet the new goals, Executive Chairman Gale Klappa said on a conference call to discuss first quarter financial results.
