Massachusetts releases energy roadmap to 2050 net-zero emissions

Massachusetts plotted its path to achieving net zero greenhouse gasemissions by 2050 and established new climate goals for 2030 in a pairof new reports.The Massachusetts 2050 Decarbonization Roadmap outlined broadpolicies and strategies for hitting the mid-century target, whichcommitted Massachusetts to cutting emissions by at least 85% below1990 levels. The second report, the 2030 Clean Energy and ClimatePlan, set a limit on greenhouse gas emissions for 2030 equal to 45%below 1990 levels."The costly impacts of climate change are on display in thecommonwealth, making it critical that we take action," Gov. CharlieBaker said in a Dec. 30 press release. "I was proud to commit thecommonwealth to achieving net-zero emissions, and the reportsreleased today move the commonwealth toward that goal equitablyand affordably."
