If New York receives normal weather this winter, utilityregulators expect lower power and natural gas prices than last year, buta recent gas pipeline issue could impact gas supply in the southern partof the state.“At the outset we’d like to say we conclude the bulk power systemis prepared to meet winter demands,” Vijay Puran, an analyst in theNew York Public Service Commission’s Office of Electric, Gas andWater, said during a PSC meeting in Albany Thursday.The PSC forecasts peak power demand will reach 24,123 MW thiswinter. The record winter peak was recorded in the winter of 2013-14 at25,738 MW during Polar Vortex conditions, Puran said.
