Bangladesh is seeking to reopen its onshore gas blocks to International Oil Companies after an eight-year gap as it attempts to meet the country's mounting energy demands, according to top government officials. State-owned Petrobangla has approached the courts to lift a ban on Production Sharing Agreements for onshore gas blocks. "We have already lodged a petition," Energy Secretary Mohammad Mohsin said. "Our country needs extensive exploration - both onshore and offshore - in the wake of the gas supply crunch," he said.
