Vietnamese coal import demand delayed to 2015

Vietnam's steering committee in charge of coal imports has told local media that the country is only likely to start importing coal from 2015, not 2013 as earlier forecast, owing to many thermal power plants falling behind their construction schedules. The committee said the country may have to import between 3 million and 15 million mt of coal a year by 2015, increasing to between 21 million and 40 million mt by 2020.
