Vietnam coal imports pushed back to 2015 by plant delays

Vietnam's steering committee which manages coal imports has told local media that the country is only likely to import the fossil fuel from 2015, not 2013 as earlier fore- cast, owing to many thermal power plants falling behind their construction schedules. The committee reported that, owing to the number of coal-fired power plants being built, the country may have to import between 3 million and 15 million mt of coal a year by 2015, increasing to between 21 million and 40 million mt by 2020.
