OPEC in driving seat for 2011

The International Energy Agency and OPEC both roll forward their monthly oil report forecasts in July to give market participants a glimpse of 2011, henceforth to be updated on a monthly basis. The US Energy Information Administration does so six months earlier in January, reflecting the greater strength of its crystal ball. The effect is also to move contraction into the history books as 2009 becomes part of the historical data series.
