A key constraint on the nuclear sector's often overstated renaissance is the lack of qualified engineers. These are needed not just for newbuild, but general operation, decommissioning and regulation. Many engineers in the industry are close to retirement and replacing them will be a challenge in itself. The industry is suffering an academic supply-chain problem resulting from years in the twilight.
