Gasification: searching for a niche

Gasification technologies promise endless versatility in both feedstock and product, but when it comes to individual projects that versatility evaporates. Projects are locked into a particular price spread and are at the mercy of future market movements. But the main problem for gasification remains capital cost. For all its many applications, there are perhaps less efficient but cheaper methods of achieving the same ends.
