Experts mobilize to probe Doel-3 vessel flaws

Nuclear plant regulators, operators and international experts are looking into the significance of thousands of flaws found in Belgium's Doel-3 reactor pressure vessel and their implications for at least 20 other reactors in Europe and the US for which vessels were supplied by the same manufacturer. Like Doel-3, those units' vessels were made in whole or in part in the 1970s by Rotterdam Dry Dock, known as RDM, a company that has gone out of business.
