Short-line and regional railroad RailAmerica is scrapping plans to build a 5.5 million st/year coal export terminal in Hoquiam, Washington, a spokesman with the Jacksonville, Florida-based company said in August. Company spokesman Paul Queary said RailAmerica opted to shelve plans for the coal export facility at the Port of Grays Harbor's Terminal 3 after it was approached by an unidentified third party that has plans to pursue a different, non-coal project at the same terminal.
