On the face of it, Mozambique could prove one of the greatest energy stories ever told in Africa. A poor nation staggers out of a civil war, all but abandons Leninist Marxism and gets the hang of the free market just in time for massive energy discoveries that could propel it into the elite club of the world’s wealthy energy producers. This, in a nutshell, is the narrative and promise of today's Mozambique, based on its recent natural gas discoveries and extensive coal resources.
