In what has become a trend in the Western US, PublicrnService Co. of New Mexico plans to exit coal-firedrngeneration by 2031 in favor of renewables and natural gasfiredrngeneration, according to its integrated resource plan.rn“A portfolio of renewables, gas generation, and, potentiallyrnstorage, provides the best balance of cost and reliabilityrnand results in a significant reduction in the environmentalrnimpact associated with supplying energy over the 20-yearrnplanning period,” PNM said in the plan released in July.
