The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority announced June 9 that the 980-MW Wylfa nuclear power station on Anglesey, North Wales, has been cleared to continue operating until at least December 2010, nine months past its planned closure date.rnThe Department for Energy and Climate Change gave its approval earlier this month to extend the plant's lifetime from March 2010, after site contractor Magnox North showed that it could maximize Wylfa's generating life while maintaining safety and performance.
