German and French energy exchanges EEX and Powernext have launched the web site for their joint spot power market exchange, EPEX Spot, the companies said January 6.rnThe site provides the two exchanges with an online platform which publishes power prices and volumes for spot market auctions in Germany/Austria, France and Switzerland as well as continuous day-ahead trading for France and intra-day trading for Germany and France. The exchanges said that the web site would be expanded in the near future to include historical data and aggregated curve data.rnEPEX Spot SE, which has registered offices in Paris, was established in September 2008. The two companies "each hold 50% in the joint company to which they have transferred their entire power spot trading activities," they said.rnThe exchanges have agreed to join their derivatives power markets in Leipzig, Germany with EEX holding 80% and Powernext the balance.
